چکیده

This paper presents the inductance–capacitance (LC) resonance effect in the magnetoelectric (ME) composites characterization system. The measured magnetoelectric voltage coefficient is significantly affected by the LC resonance at the electromechanical resonant frequency, but not at 1 kHz, typically reported in the literature. Decreasing the measuring circuit inductance and/or capacitance helps to reduce the LC resonance effect. While it is impossible to completely eliminate the coil inductance and capacitance, they should be accounted for by proper circuit balancing. One can accurately calculate the sample intrinsic ME voltage coefficient knowing L and C of the measuring circuit. This study is helpful for designing and building the ME characterization systems.

Resonant modes and magnetoelectric performance of PZT/Ni cylindrical layered composites

Resonant modes and magnetoelectric performance of layered PZT/Ni and Ni/PZT/Ni cylindrical composites are considered. The first and the second resonant frequencies in the 1–150 kHz range correspond to the axial and the radial modes. Experimental results and theoretical analysis indicate that one should choose the trilayered structure and the first resonant frequency as the working frequency. Th...

Electromechanical resonance in multilayer and bulk magnetoelectric composites

Magnetic photonic crystals are spatially periodic dielectric composites with at least one of the constitutive components being a magnetically polarized material. We show that the electrodynamic properties of magnetic photonic crystals with proper configuration correspond to those of hypothetical media with huge linear magnetoelectric effect. In particular, such composites can display strong asy...

Practical method for determining inductance and capacitance of metamaterial resonators

A practical approach to determining the distributed capacitance and inductance of individual metamaterial resonators is demonstrated. By loading a set of lumped capacitors onto the resonator, the resonance frequency can be measured as a function of the load capacitance. The capacitance and inductance values of the resonator are then determined by relating the equivalent circuit model to the mea...
